BIS to Conduct Seminar for US Export Controls and the Export
Control Reforms in Detroit
Brownrigg Companies Vice President of Sales Chairing BIS Seminar
DETROIT, MI – The East Michigan District Export Council (EMDEC) will host the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) for a three-day workshop designed for all levels of expertise on export control issues at the Gem and Century Theaters in downtown Detroit on May 13 – 15, 2014. This will be the only BIS seminar offered in the Midwest in 2014 and the first time in years that the multi-day seminar has been held in Michigan.
“This seminar is going to give companies the opportunity to get educated and help them become more affective exporters and importers. We want to make sure that these businesses are aware of their compliance regulations and penalties for exporting their products abroad, “said the Troy W. Brownrigg, Events Committee Chair for the EMDEC and Vice President of Sales at Brownrigg Companies LTD.
The seminar will be the only opportunity to learn about regulations, and understand the most significant changes the regulations have undergone in over 20 years (the Export Control Reform Initiative), directly from BIS regulatory experts.
The program will cover US Government export controls (Export Administration Regulations) including: types of controls, classifying your product, license requirements, record keeping requirements, export clearance, enforcement, developing an export management compliance program and additional topics. There will be Q&A opportunities and opportunities at breaks for attendees to ask the government presenters their specific corporate questions dealing with their specific problems. An official USDOC/BIS “Certificate of Training” will be issued upon completion of the program. MCLE Credit will also be offered for those who qualify.
This seminar is designed for all exporters, compliance officers, trade lawyers, financial service providers and accountants involved in International business, freight forwarders and logistics professionals, engineers, university officials, and anyone else who wants to learn about export control regulations.
